info Quick Overview

Description

Arctic Steel BISO water strainer with superior AISI Duplex 2205 cast stainless steel construction and electro-polished finish. Casting their strainers delivers a one-piece body so there are no welding weak-points to be found on Arctic Steel strainers. The electro-polish removes carbon and impurities, enhancing corrosion resistance and giving a chromium rich shine.

The WS-BISO-300-C-A BISO raw water strainer features a 3″ BSP female inlet and 3″ BSP female outlet port (bottom in side out) and is direct mount. A full height basket is utilised, with a high-impact resistant ABS construction. Using a basket that is the full height of the strainer maximise the filtration area and coupled with offset ports which create a swirling water flow, allows for better filtration and longer periods between cleaning. The inlet and outlet design also acts to minimise air locks due to the water flow, which changes direction half way down the strainer basket, mixing any air into small bubbles. The strainer also features a drain plug.

The Arctic Steel water strainer is designed for applications that require a header tank or mounting above the waterline.

The clear polycarbonate lid allows for easy inspection and is paired with a solid electro-polished 316 stainless steel retaining ring for a strong connection to the strainer body. The lid is secured by 5 stainless steel wing nuts for easy access, these connect to swing-down stainless steel eye bolts, which eliminates the need to remove nut; never lose them again. The strainer seals with a durable silicone gasket.

Stainless steel 2205 has many benefits over bronze, including:

– Lighter than bronze with excellent corrosion resistance 2205 SS boasts the same life as bronze.

– Arctic Steel strainers are many times stronger (high tensile) than bronze.

– Reduced galvanic corrosion as today engine rooms are dominated by stainless steel and alloy.

The raw water strainer features an electrical bonding connection on the side of the strainer to connect to the vessel’s anode system. Thread sealant can further aid to reduce galvanic corrosion when connecting different metals.

Arctic Steel strainers meet ISO 9001:2008 certification and complies with AISI standards for 2205 stainless steel, in addition to exceeding required standards for engine room plumbing approval by BV, DNV, Lloyds and ABS.
